Perception

Oh man. So many things have been running through my mind that I wanted to blog about, but instead of having one long, hunk of a blog, there'll be mini ones. The first thoughts that were brewing (haha, brewing. I hate that word because I always associate it with brewing poop...like when you KNOW it's not going to be a pleasant experience.) Anyway...I find it fascinating that two people can see the same or hear the same thing and have completely different opinions on the matter. That being said, my hair is fabulous! So I used to have long hair, then I cut it, and now I just keep cutting it. This last summer the look I went for was a pixie cut. I loved it. People loved it. It was a good thing. But since I decided to grow out my hair (really...so in case I go on a mission it's easy to manage and I won't have to get it cut every month like I did with the pixie) I have heard soooooo many times, "Oh, but you look so much better with short hair." Not "oh I like your hair now" or "I think you're short hair is cute" but they precede to tell me that they have looked through all 569 pictures of mine on facebook and feel like my short short hair is definitely what I need to stick with. So I have tried to be understanding and appreciative of the back handed compliment. And then I hear, "Yeah you should grow your hair out...boys don't like girls with short hair". Ummm excuse me? If a boy would NOT date me because I have short hair...uh no thank you. He can LET that door hit him on his way out. And so I decided I am going to grow it out, but I didn't like where my look was going, and I always like to look (read: feel) high end with my hair, so I had my girl Nicki at Cost Cutters "take it up in the back". She did a great job. Then the comments made are, "So much for growing it out" almost as if I have given up on myself! Well I say...rude, I DOWAATAIIWANT! The only perception I care about...or should, at least, is muuyyy owwwwn!
