Perception

Oh man. So many things have been running through my mind that I wanted to blog about, but instead of having one long, hunk of a blog, there'll be mini ones. The first thoughts that were brewing (haha, brewing. I hate that word because I always associate it with brewing poop...like when you KNOW it's not going to be a pleasant experience.) Anyway...I find it fascinating that two people can see the same or hear the same thing and have completely different opinions on the matter. That being said, my hair is fabulous! So I used to have long hair, then I cut it, and now I just keep cutting it. This last summer the look I went for was a pixie cut. I loved it. People loved it. It was a good thing. But since I decided to grow out my hair (really...so in case I go on a mission it's easy to manage and I won't have to get it cut every month like I did with the pixie) I have heard soooooo many times, "Oh, but you look so much better with short hair." Not "oh I like your hair now" or "I think you're short hair is cute" but they precede to tell me that they have looked through all 569 pictures of mine on facebook and feel like my short short hair is definitely what I need to stick with. So I have tried to be understanding and appreciative of the back handed compliment. And then I hear, "Yeah you should grow your hair out...boys don't like girls with short hair". Ummm excuse me? If a boy would NOT date me because I have short hair...uh no thank you. He can LET that door hit him on his way out. And so I decided I am going to grow it out, but I didn't like where my look was going, and I always like to look (read: feel) high end with my hair, so I had my girl Nicki at Cost Cutters "take it up in the back". She did a great job. Then the comments made are, "So much for growing it out" almost as if I have given up on myself! Well I say...rude, I DOWAATAIIWANT! The only perception I care about...or should, at least, is muuyyy owwwwn!

Long overdue. No Big.

So unless you know me, you can't really tell that the right side of my face is swollen. But I'm trying to smile the same on both sides and this is what came out.....
And yes, I'm on Vicodin in footie PJs :D

Happy Friggin' New Year

Whilst merely an entertaining title, there is some meaning behind it. A few things have happened in the last three weeks that have been somewhat of a challenge, and it occurred to me that it has all been the start of 2010. I'm not much of a believer that how your new year starts sets off the rest because otherwise '10 would SUCK.

It all began the week before break. I moved out of my place up north to share a room closer to campus. I would save money and time and be closer to Church, which is always a good thing. The process getting there was a tad awkward (such as 3 mugs I put in the kitchen ended up on my desk the next day) I worked through it. I figured it would get better as time went on. Not so much the case. I moved my bed in on December 19, and was asked where I would be staying until the new year started. It did not occur to me before that that once my bed was in...I couldn't sleep in it due to the fact that I did not pay rent in December, nor had I that intention. Whatevs.

I came back in town January 5th and low and behold I had an abscess tooth. Turns out...on a tooth I ALREADY had a root canal on more than 5 years ago. So on January 7th I had minor surgery in my mouth in order for them (by that I mean Dr. Jones...or Brown or something like that...don't remember) to clean out the bone and tissue. Super. I used more vicodin after that surgery than I did my knees. I couldn't drive once taking my medication so while my face swelling went down I hung out at Lydia's for two days in my footie PJs. :) But $1100 well spent... GAH!

The days went by and I was still sleeping at friend's houses since I felt awkward at "my" house. The night before school started I slept at the house and waited for my roommate to come home so we could talk and just assess the weirdness. I was up until 2 and she hadn't come home, but the next day was the first day and I had class at 8 so I went to bed. At about 7am I woke up to my phone going off with a text message and saw my roommate standing by her desk. I opened the phone and saw it was from said roommate telling me to move out by next month. I looked at her and said, "Did you really just text me to move out...? We're in the same room." Argument ensued, she refused to talk to me, and thus I am living with Lydia, Kyli, and Lani until a friend gets married in March and I take her place at another apartment.

So it was a rough couple of weeks, but a lot of good things have happened. The dentist I went to is actually LDS and gives discounts to outgoing missionaries for fillings and x-rays. I get to spend my T/TH mornings with babies! (Nothing to do with my story, but it makes me happy!) I am now living with wonderful girls that I adore getting to know better. I get to move in with an awesome group of Morms in March, I have institute everyday, and on the first day of school I was hired by the Music and Dance Academy of Tucson to teach voice. A little intimidating, but it pays well!

For now, here's a picture of Bowen and I in footie PJs :D, and I'll post the picture I have of my stitches once I get all my camera stuff in the same place. Until next time. Goodnight. :D

I Won First Place!

Alas, two finals down and a billion to go. On Monday I thought I could finish this painting project after FHE and leave school around midnight. Well...I ended up being there until 6:15am Tuesday morning. I have to say...it was worth it. For the final they had our paintings judged by a panel from the theatre dept, and whoever won got an automatic A in the class, and then 2nd and 3rd place got 3 extra credit points. My goal was to be in the top 3...I was pretty sure I had an A, but it was riding really at a 90% maybe an 89%. And I'm a firm believer that if I'm getting a B...I'm getting a B...that to me is an 80%, not an 89%. But I won first PLACE!!!! Love it.

Putti Putti Rockin' Everywhere!

So as I've mentioned my scene painting class....

Our last two projects were a lil' more difficult than our first of geometric shapes. But I've come to discover...I really enjoy painting. So here we have what is to be a folded piece of green fabric.

And our most recent project was what we call, "putties". Yes they are a real thing, they're cherubs...or fat baby angels. It only took forever and a day, but I finally finished. But for some of you...you know that song, "Booty booty booty booty, rockin' everywhere, rockin' everwhere, I found you miss new booty," etc...well every time I came in the paint shop and they said, "It's Putti time!" I just started sining and dancing, "putti putti putti putti rockin' everywhere!" Twas fun. Now it's the Putti Project theme song.

Our final project is marbleizing something. When my table is done I'll post photos. Until then, I bid you adieu.

Scrapbooking: the addiction

So I wanted to blog about my scrapbooking that I've been doing. I've finished the book about my travels in Europe and across the US, and now I'm working on High School Highlights! hahaha, you love it.
This first one is from when I was in Prague. It was my favorite city that we visited. We went to Munich, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, and Salzburg. And then when I got back, Hannah and I went to Long Island and NYC and Washington DC. Leanne's backyard is the beach....oh my word. Loved it.
Once Hannah and I got back from there, we headed off to CO for a wedding, which was fun, and then after that I went to California to stay with my friend Laura for 3 weeks. I met Lainie Kazan, which if you don't know who she is...google her. She was the mother in My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

After that we were in Sedona and Kaitlin stopped in for a visit. Those girls were my life in high school. I still love and adore them!!
This next page is from my High School Highlights. (PS that needs to be said with a gay accent) I was Mae Peterson in Bye Bye Birdie sophomore year. Again...loved it.

So my next adventure is to finish a blanket I've started...but it's turning out some what horrifying. I'll post after Christmas... :)
